RLW Estates New Town

The proposed New Town

Waterbeach Forward is against the proposal of a new town to be built in the Parish of Waterbeach in Cambridgeshire. The plan put forward by RLW Estates, a partnership of the Royal London Group, Turnstone Estates, St. John’s College, Cambridge and the Waterbeach Trust (a consortium of local land owners) is essentially the same as the one rejected ten years ago after a full enquiry.

The proposed new town of 13,000 homes, the size of Ely would represent massive over-development and the loss of green-field farmland.

With Northstowe and other major new settlements in the region agreed and about to start, it is by no means certain that a development of this size is actually needed in South Cambridgeshire.
