Waterbeach Forward

On 19 July 2011 Defence Secretary Liam Fox announced that Waterbeach Barracks would close by 2015.

Waterbeach Forward wants to ensure that any future development of the site following its closure will be of real and lasting benefit to the local community.

Proposed Future Development
  • The New Town

To date the only proposal for the site is the construction of a new town of 13,000 homes by RLW Estates.  A partnership of the Royal London Group, Turnstone Estates, St John’s College, Cambridge and the Waterbeach Trust (a consortium of local land owners).

  • The Campaign

Waterbeach Forward is against  this new town, which will be out of proportion with local villages and the current infrastructure.
